Despite difficulties, sometimes life provides us with moments where we work to gather strength or help to end one passage of life and move into a more fruitful and positive one. I have worked with many clients to do just that. I graduated in 2014 from UL Lafayette with a Masters of Science in Counselor Education and am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) from Lafayette, Louisiana. From inpatient and outpatient mental health clinics to university advising and counseling settings, in home settings, and private practice, I have gathered experience in working with anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ issues, trauma/PTSD, dissociation, addictions, adjustment disorder, academic concerns, and marital issues. I have worked with a wide range of clients from adolescents around 12 years of age to those approaching later stages in life and with groups, individuals, and couples. I work to provide a kind, non-judgmental space of safety and compassion to help with the passage from one difficult part of the journey in life into a new, more empowered path.
When something difficult or unexpected happens in our life, whether old or young it can leave a lasting impression that may require specialized help to overcome. I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Trained therapist and work with trauma/PTSD in an integral fashion using a gentle and connective approach that ties the biophysical (Polyvagal Theory) to the EMDR therapeutic style. EMDR is an evidence-based approach of therapy known to be a quicker mode of processing and integrating difficult or painful memories to allow an individual the opportunity to move past triggering or difficult life moments. In session, we help overcome unwanted emotions, self-esteem concerns, disorientation, and problematic coping behaviors to instead help instill adaptive, self-empowered ways of responding to the world.
Whether you are facing uncertainty in your life, in your goals, in your relationships, in your self-worth, or whether you need help revitalizing a sense of safety after traumatic events, I am interested in helping. With years of training and an extensive set of tools and techniques I am open to being your counselor, and I look forward to creating a meaningful helping relationship with you.
